Privacy Policy
Effective 19 August 2026
This policy covers Latitude and the other iOS apps published by Southpaw Software LLC.
The short version: we don't collect anything. Latitude has no accounts, no analytics, and no third-party SDKs. It doesn't send your readings, notes, or photos to us or to anyone else. Everything the app creates stays on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Southpaw Software operates no servers that receive data from the app, and the app contains no code that transmits your information anywhere. We cannot see what you meter, what you write in your journal, or that you use the app at all.
This is reflected in the app's privacy manifest, which declares no collected data types and no tracking.
What stays on your device
Latitude stores your settings and your work in the app's own storage on your
iPhone, using Apple's standard UserDefaults mechanism:
- App preferences
- Your chosen film stock, ISO, shutter and aperture settings, personal calibration, and whether you've seen onboarding.
- Roll journal
- The rolls and frames you log, including any notes you type.
This data is only readable by Latitude. Deleting the app removes it. If your iPhone is backed up to iCloud or a computer, this data is included in that backup and is governed by Apple's terms, not ours — we have no access to it.
You can export a roll as a CSV file to send to your lab or keep for yourself. That export only happens when you ask for it, and the file goes wherever you choose to send it. It does not pass through us.
Camera
Latitude uses the camera to meter light and preview exposure. The camera feed is processed live on your device to calculate readings. It is not recorded, and it is never uploaded. iOS will ask your permission the first time, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera.
Photos
If you choose to save a reference photo, Latitude writes it to your photo library with your exposure settings drawn on top. It requests add-only access, which means the app can add photos to your library but cannot read, browse, or see anything already in it. Saved photos are never uploaded.
Subscriptions and the App Store
Some features are part of a paid subscription. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit. The app asks Apple whether your subscription is currently active — that answer is all it receives, and it's what makes the paid features unlock.
We never see your name, email address, or payment details. Apple processes the transaction and provides us with anonymised sales reports; that relationship is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings › your name › Subscriptions.
Analytics and tracking
There are none. No analytics service, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier, no tracking across apps or websites. The app's privacy manifest declares tracking as disabled and lists no tracking domains.
Third-party SDKs
There are none. Latitude is built only on Apple's own frameworks and has no third-party dependencies of any kind.
Children
Latitude is a tool for film photographers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children — because we do not collect information at all.
Your rights
Laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to hand over or erase. The data on your device is entirely under your control: you can edit or delete any entry in the app, and deleting the app removes all of it.
We do not sell or share personal information, because we have none to sell or share.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of an app changes how it handles data, we'll update this page and change the effective date at the top before that version ships. Significant changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes for the version that introduces them. This page is the current policy; there is no mailing list to subscribe to, because we don't have your email address.
